“The Boys from Syracuse”

Based on Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors this tale is set against a backdrop of Ancient Greece. There are twin sons who have twin slaves, who were separated during a shipwreck. One set of master/servant lives in the city , the other set visiting the region fro the first time soon causes a whole series of confusing mix-ups not only between the citizens, but also between a long lost father, master and slave, and wife! The songs include – Falling in Love with Love, and Sing for your Supper.

NYMT – West Side Story

21 – 24 August
Victoria Warehouse, Manchester
With a cast of 40 and an orchestra of 35 exceptionally talented young people drawn from all over the UK, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is transported to 1950s New York City, as two young idealistic lovers find themselves caught between warring street gangs, the Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks.

“This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a new production of arguably one of the most significant and greatest musicals of all time. West Side Story represents the very best in music and dance storytelling, as relevant today as when it first exploded onto Broadway in the 1950s. The mighty Victoria Warehouse is an exceptional space – epic and uncompromising. It is here we shall create a piece of work contemporary in tone, ambitious in scale, immersive, truly explosive and unashamedly theatrical.” NIKOLAI FOSTER – director
